POV Characters

Here will be character summaries for the new POVs introduced in Empire's Hammer.

John Barion

Male Human
Age: 54

Background: John was born to house Barion in Peirat. The City-State was back on track after being nearly bankrupted by his grandfather, Walter. He was deposed mere months before John was born. John’s father, Cid, didn’t want him to follow in Walter’s or his footsteps, so he sent John off at a young age to be taught and trained by teachers and masters in many cities around Minara. John returns years later. He is named commander of the Peirat amries. John leads them in campaign against Drokxus and comes out victorious. This puts John on track with many in Terragar. Years later after his first wife and child die in childbirth, he goes on a campaign to help the Sanctum, when the Fel Weavers go on an all-out offensive. John would prove successful again. He helps defeat the Fel weavers and then returns home. He eventually remarries, but she has trouble getting pregnant. A couple years later his father is killed by a radical felk tribe bent on kicking all non felk out of the Northlands. John takes an army north, tracks down this tribe and slaughters them. While there he finds an orphan of 4 years old, named Sean Fray. He brings him home and raises the child as his own. John would eventually have 2 children with his second wife, Marianne. The older one is a daughter named Kaylen and the younger is a son named Brandon. He is good friends with Olin’Vor, and with Cirus’Vel. Has the nickname “John the Untouchable” as it is rumored that he has never been wounded, injured, or even scratched in combat.

Character: John is very disciplined, and stern. He usually means what he says. He stands, walks, and talks with a purpose. Many comment how always seems to be doing something of significance. His brow seems to be always furrowed. He follows an idea that to be a great warrior or leader, one cannot fully bank on either physical prowess, or an unyielding intellect. One must have a marriage of the two. Despite what seems to be a constant sternness, he actual will cut loose around his close friends. He is often heard saying “Just because it happened before doesn’t mean it will happen again.” Above all, when john sets out to do something, he does it, with what looks like ease.

Appearance: he stands nearly 6 feet tall. He has a lean build and is in quite good shape for his age. He has no visible scars despite how seasoned in war he is. But he does look rather weathered in the face. He has many wrinkles and he would have quite the gaunt looking face if his facial hair didn’t cover half of it. He has a decent size beard that comes to a point. The top of his head is bald and he has thick eyebrows. But the most drawing feature are his deep set dark-brown eyes. He is seen carrying his house sword, Horn, often as well as a slew of daggers that are strapped to his side.

Novolk Xoh

Male Felk
Age: 52

Background: Novolk ascended to Chieftain of the Xoh at an early age. His father had been killed in a skirmish with glattii. The Xoh’s warlords gathered around him and helped raise Novolk, they taught him how to fight, lead, and commune with his people. Although they would never fill the void his father left. Novolk would eventually marry a felk from the Nntorok tribe, named Thera. This marriage would prove to strengthen the ties between the two tribes. The Xoh tribe had been out of favor for some time with the Capital, but Novolk would see that changed. He had his first son born named, Janolk. Two years later Novolk would be tasked with hunting down a renegade lesser tribe, by the Capital. When Novolk arrived though, the job had already been done. A human army led by John Barion had marched into Enclave territory and got revenge on this renegade tribe. While this was in violation of so many things, Novolk was in awe. Novolk would smooth it over with the capital, but this only served to push his tribe further away. However he had a new born determination. He would later have a daughter, Merra, and another son, Earolk. Ten years later he would meet with the Chieftain of the Nntorok. The told planned for a way to regain their lost territory from the glattii. This would be called the Nntorok Initiative. It would prove a failure, and the whole of the main Nntorok family would die, leaving Warlord Vrask in charge of the tribe. Novolk would retreat from politics and communing with the other tribes, he had now completely fallen out of grace with the Capital. The Grand Chieftain, Mjorov, had personal dismissed the Xoh, saying that they are still one of the five through tradition alone, they are to have no seats of authority in the capital.

Character: Novolk is a stern and fierce warrior. He in some ways has tried to model himself after John Barion, but this has proven to be a failure. Novolk spends his time brooding in their tribe’s chief city, Xoh’Tok. He used to be full of ambition and bravery, but he just wanders the grounds living out his twilight years. Novolk often dreams how things could have been, if they had beat the Glattii. He places all his hopes in his eldest son Janolk. He hopes that Janolk will be able to redeem their tribe.

Appearance: Novolk is quite big for a felk. He has many scars on his face and body. His facial fur has grown long, thick, and grey. He has filed his antlers down, a sign of someone who has been disgraced in the Xoh tribe. His muscles have waned a bit, since it has been years since he fought. Most of his fur is turning white, yet there are some streaks of light brown and black. He rarely smiles anymore.

Lish’ah Torosh

Female Glattii
Age: 9

Background: Lish’ah is the daughter of the Governor, Volsh Torosh, of the Glattii colony in the Sea-Spear peninsula. Her mother lives had a falling out with him and lives in Giilora. She has been brought up in the palace in Nih’vilass and has only seen her mom a few times. She has been taught by scholars and other tutors. Her father Volsh takes a pretty impersonal approach to raising Lish’ah. She looks up to her brother Ashak a great warrior. She spends most of her time climbing the battlements and reenacting fights that her brother has told her. Her father though dissuades fighting for females and would prefer Lish’ah do more lady like things.

Character: She enjoys playing around the palace even though she gets scolded. She often questions the old ways of the glattii such as their racial prejudice. She often looks down and is soft spoken when around her father. But she is spunky and happy when around her older brother.

Appearance: She is a scrawny thing but tall for her age. She has vivid green skin. She has big dark green eyes. She wears gorgeous gowns but will switch to more boyish close when she climbing around the battlements.

Earolk Xoh

Male Felk
Age: 16

Background: Born the second son of Chieftain Novolk Xoh, he always got the short end. His father always paid more attention to his elder brother Janolk. Janolk was taught how to be a leader, a warrior, and a just man. Earolk instead would play games with his sister. His mother always doted on him and would constantly try to get Novolk to pay attention to Earolk. He often wanders around Xoh’tok and helps random folk. Novolk put him in charge of organizing all their tribe’s letters, documents, scrolls, and scribes.

Character: Earolk is usually quiet as he learned to stay out of the way at court. He likes reading, going over old documents, and organizing. He is kind, probably too kind. He often seeks out the respect of his father.

Appearance: He is thin and small in stature for a male felk. His fur his soft and light brown mixed with whites. His fur looks like it has seen very little ruffling. His antlers are shorter than most others. Has hazel eyes.
